January 6, 2010: It's been a while since I updated these pages. There's been a lot going on, both personally and professionally. Unfortunately, putting 20 hats on one person, often means a hat gets dropped when other things are happening. For me, that's the website, the Development Diary, the website...
I spent most of 2009 working on CGI animations for Synthetic Technologies' Fantasci: Hidden Wars. The CGI clips - which will be put together by the client, mixed with other things - are now available for viewing in the "Professional Work" section. I wound up having to drop my involvement with AIR Steampunk because my availability wasn't good when they needed someone. We just couldn't get the timing quite right. By the time July rolled around, I was mostly burned-out professionally and wanted nothing more than to take a good rest. Unfortunately, health issues kicked in when nothing else was on my plate, and I spent several weeks undergoing some pretty scary tests (which worked out alright, although I go back for another run of tests in February, just to be sure). All-in-all, by the time September rolled around, I wanted to do nothing more than spend the last three months of the year relaxing. Which is not what I did.
Happily, I experienced an upswing with my fibro and CFS and spent September, October and part of November doing "spring cleaning" that was way overdue. I *finally* got my office/studio set up - thanks to a generous donation of modular furniture from my parents - and I'm so pleased at how everything works. I have a loveseat across from an entertainment center that also doubles as storage cabinetry and filing drawers. (Hooray for multi-function furniture!) I have a computer desk, that opens and closes, to allow me more working space, when I need it. I have a wonderful drawing/craft table that's on wheels, so that I can close up the desk and pull the table over under the better lights. All-in-all, I'm ready to move forward with some major work. (And maybe some relaxation!)
So, here I am at the New Year, and you might be wondering: Does Gina-Marie have any New Year's resolutions? Well, yes, as a matter of fact, I do. Several.
